Ok so heres how a conversation went at work on friday.
me: "welcome to marie callenders! how can I help you today?*smile*"
lady: "wow you must be having a great day to have a smile like that."
me: "every day's a great day"
lady: "really? I've never heard anyone say that before."
me: " it just depends on your attitude towards life. If you have a positive attitude you can have a great day and help others have a better day. If you have a negative attitude on the other hand your day tends to be worse and you bring down other people with you."
lady: "I think I'm always going to remember that. thank you."
I strongly believe that to be true, and I have many experiences to prove it works. Everyday when you get out of bed ask yourself: "Do I want to be a happy person that makes others feel great too? Or do I want to be crabby today and make others feel worse?"
Even if your day is going horribly, it doesn't mean you have to show it on the outside. When I'm personally having a bad day I go search through my "laughing box" and remember something that was hilarious and just start laughing at it. Brings the smile right back on my face every time.
Problems in your life? Think its better to just keep it all bottled up inside of yourself? Well news flash for you...its not. All of us have friends that we trust with pretty much anything, tell one of them about it. Not only are two heads better than one, but it takes all the burden off your shoulders so you're not stressing and worrying about it constantly.
Now we all know that when you're talking to a happy person you can normally tell by the "warm, fuzzy" feeling you get. Then when you talk to a sad, depressing person you get this "depressed, unhappy" feeling. Here's a fact for everyone, people like to hang out with positive happy people more than with negative depressing people. It just makes them feel better about themselves and their life and lets them laugh and smile.
Trust. Trust is a strong feeling. Everybody likes to know that they have people they can trust. Like-wise people like to know that they have people that trust them. So a friend spilled one of your secrets one time, its not the end of the world. *gasp* Amazing isn't it! You figured out that that friend isn't the best person to keep their mouth shut. That doesn't mean that everybody else you meet is exactly the same as that one person. People hate it when you tell them that you can't tell them anything because the last person you told spilled the beans. Pretty much don't live in the past.
Ok last two things here. If you're still reading this good job, you're almost done.
One of your friends is joking around with you and it starts to hurt your feelings. Don't just all of a sudden get defensive. Don't just get up and walk away. Talk about it with your friend. Ask them if they'd please stop and you don't really like it. (notice how I said "ask" not "tell") Most people will once they realize that. If you never tell them how are they supposed to know when they start pushing it with the jokes.
So you tell your friend about some problems your having or just about your life. They give you some advice. Listen to what they say and actually try it. When people give advice to friends most of the time they themselves have learned it through personal experience and are trying to help you. Its totally up to you whether you want to use their advice or not, but don't come crying back to that person with the same problem without trying their advice. Its really annoying to repeat the same thing again and again and again.
Ok so that probably the most I've ever written in my life, but I just needed to get that all off my chest.
